JCG teacher, Miss Morris, schools Radio 1’s Greg James on how to pronounce ‘thank you’ in French.
Miss Morris, Head of Italian and Head of KS4/5 French at JCG, applied to be part of the Radio 1 DJ Greg James’ podcast he runs with his partner, Bella Mackie, during their ‘Teach Me a Lesson’ series that they started during lockdown to assist students with their learning. Miss Morris was chosen to take part and recorded her podcast with them a few weeks back. This brilliant and hilarious podcast launched last night, with it garnering the front page of their podcast.
Miss Morris corrected the pronunciation of Greg and Bella’s ‘thank you’, in French. It turns out that when most British people say ‘thank you’, we are actually complimenting a person’s bottom. And this is all because the sounds the British and the French make for certain words are different.

Congratulations to Miss Morris for putting herself forward to appear on this podcast and making it so appealing to all. It just goes to show that you don’t know what will happen if you don’t try.
